About

The St. Vrain Valley Student Film Festival started as a collaboration between the Career Elevation and Technology Center (CETC) and Niwot High School many years ago. This collaboration has grown and changed many times but now invites students from not only St. Vrain Valley School District but Boulder Valley and Thompson School Districts as well.

The St. Vrain Valley Student Film Festival (SVVSFF) is planned and presented by the Interactive Media students of CETC. SVVSFF is open to middle and high school students in St. Vrain Valley School District, Boulder Valley and Thompson Schools.

Mission

The St. Vrain Valley Student Film Festival works to provide an energized and creative platform in which students can learn about filmmaking and related skills, and then share their knowledge and efforts with our regional community. In addition, it provides an opportunity for Career and Technical Education students in the arts and media to organize and plan an event within their field of study.

Philosophy

Filmmaking is not only the creative endeavor of the director. It takes many hands and minds to make a successful film. It is truly a collaborative effort. This festival incorporates several skills that our high school students learn every day, including language and writing, drama, photography, fine arts, computer technology, business development, leadership, math, and science. From the screenwriting, acting, cinematography, editing, and even through the artistic creation of the SVVSFF festival medals, we strive to provide opportunities for the entire student body to participate and to bring together a multitude of talents.
