The deadline for completing the Official Entry Form for submissions to the 2024 festival has now passed.

All films eligible to win a category at the festival abide by the submission guidelines. Follow these guidelines to make sure your film is eligible to be selected as a winner:

  1. Writers and directors must be middle school or high school students enrolled in SVVSD, Boulder Valley Schools, or Thompson Schools.
  2. No entry fee; you may submit up to three films.
  3. Maximum running time of 8 minutes, including credits; we suggest a minimum of 2 minutes.
  4. Submit the full length film.
  5. Include the completed SVVSFF Official Entry Form with each submission.
  6. Must not promote alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, violence, profanity, sexual content, or disrespect to oneself or others. The SVVSFF screening committee reserves the right to interpret the content of the film.
  7. All music and images must be original or students must have all necessary rights for use.
  8. Provide a list of student names and their roles in production, plus which high school they attend.
  9. HD is the preferred video format; 1080 or 720 pixels wide… 4K will not be accepted due to the size of the files.
  10. 16:9 is the preferred aspect ratio; 4:3 will also be accepted.
  11. The following must be submitted for each film: full length film and a production still (a representative image using a frame from your film to be used in publicity items).
